Informed Choice
YOU ARE JUST A CLICK AWAY FROM WHERE THE STRESS AND PRESSURE DISAPPEAR AND YOU CAN RELAX IN LUXURY WHILE YOUR PROBLEMS ARE SOLVED BY SOMEONE ELSE.
It’s about the choice of a hose. We can only guess how one would transport goods if hoses weren't invented. Would we use just pipes and pumps for plumbing? Thankfully, we can only guess because they have been around for some time.
There are countless instances where hoses are the sole form of plumbing used in the transportation of liquids, gases and solids. The more expensive and highly complex the installation is, the more critical the proper choice of hose is.
Whenever you purchase shoes, you think about the fit, form and function, are they made from quality materials? How is the craftsmanship, are they well-constructed? Or will they need to be repaired prematurely.
When engineers design a system plumbed with hoses, they too make the same decisions. Hoses are a lot like shoes. If you make a compromise in the quality of materials or their construction, you risk losing and at times you could lose a lot.
Now, while shoes are something that can be easily replaced and without a serious issue, the same can't be said for hoses. A single hose failure can expose you to great losses. Such as, lost productivity, missed deadlines, unhappy customers, valuable fluid loss and worst of all ecological problems.
Yes, you don’t like surprises. Your thoughts and plans are directed towards new ideas, new business contacts, regular deals and new markets. You are short of free time and you would love to spend it all with your family and friends. This is the reason why, you should not let yourself make a compromise with the choice of the right hose. Every feature matters. Share your ideas with your engineers and mechanics. Listen to your employees. Often times the man behind the machine is the one who knows what he needs the best in order to reach his goals. He is the expert and he has an eye for the detail.
There are many details and they are very important. Take a look and think about it:
- Dimensions: inside and outside diameter, wall thickness, length
- Hose material: rubber, PVC, Silicone, Teflon, polyurethane, metal…
- What type of substance would be transferred: water, air, fuel, chemicals, food, % alcohol, technical gas, Freon, cooling fluids, abrasive materials…
- Construction: firm or corrugated, insert material (inside layer)
- Reinforcement (braid): metal, textile, Kevlar, other…
- Purpose: discharge or suction? Should it be spiral? What is the system pressure? Is it a vacuum one?
- What is the indoor air temperature and the temperature of the transported substance?
- Installation specifics: vertical or horizontal, bending radius, mechanical pressure
- Mechanical load: does it work in a permanent contraction and unfolding regime?
